Our History
In 1976, the Alternative School was established in Cherry Hill to serve students with special needs. In 1998 we changed our name to Brookfield Academy and continued to expand our services and programs. Brookfield's Transition to College Program started in September of 1999, with the Elementary School opening in 2001.
In the Spring of 2002, the Center for Family Guidance received a three year grant for the CONCEPT Program. The school component was developed at that time and the first students began being served by Brookfield in late spring. In 2005 the grant was completed and the program closed.
The Homebound Services have expanded over the last seven years. Two new components in the 2003-2004 year were the Underwood Behavioral Health and TLC Program. In 2005 the full day school program KIT began, followed by EXCEL and Insight in 2006. Homebound services for the YES facility began in September 2006 also.
